No More Standard Cooking Time

Silkscreen printing, 40 x 50 cm, Edition of 8

In Hong Kong, we have a tradition of having tea time during kindergarten. This story is about a little boy who hates to have an overcooked boiled egg, and especially the egg yolk turns green. During tea time, he tried his best to eat it but he still couldn't finish it. However, the teacher told him that he must finish the boiled egg before he could leave the classroom. Then, she turned off the light, closed the door and left. The little boy was left alone in the empty classroom. This is a work created for a group show called "Outsider". The participating artists shared their outsider stories, and the others chose a story that they were interested in representing. The main theme of this group show is to explore if we can help others tell their personal stories through artwork and let the audience feel the unique emotions within. I try to use hand-painted stencils to imitate the painting brush strokes of children and different colours of egg yolks to represent diverse likes and dislikes, they can coexist so do not try to fit your preferences into others.
